Summer 2019

Resetting Your Day with Dunkin’

During the summer of 2019 I worked at BBDO, one of the top ad agencies out there and the agency that Mad Men is based off of. Having seen two episodes of Mad Men, I knew exactly how advertising worked; drink make ad good people watch smart.

But it turns out there are also different methods of advertising, ones where strategists and creatives thoughtfully plan, collaborate, and deliver high-quality work. For the biggest of my projects over the summer, my team of interns and I worked together to create a campaign for Dunkin’. Our goal was to increase foot-traffic and highlight Dunkin’ as a beverage-focused brand. Not as easy as you might think, especially for a brand called Dunkin’ Donuts.

America Runs on Decks

Our team worked together to create a campaign for Dunkin’ with the slogan “Reset Your Day”. The aim was to target consumers during their minor setbacks of everyday life, offering Dunkin’ as a quick boost to reset their day.

For this project, I not only got to create the deck and the mockups, I also had a chance to collaborate on the research, the strategy, and the problem-solving. The most gratifying part of this project was that I got a chance to work on every part of the process, from beginning to end.

Closing Shop for the Summer

Through my internship at BBDO, I got to work on amazing accounts like Dunkin’, Visa, FedEx, Exxon, Bombay Sapphire, and many more. The experience was a valuable and informative foray into advertising for me.

But the best part of the summer was struggling together with my fellow interns, finding friendships, and learning more than just the rules of advertising. Working in advertising is not at all like Mad Men. But New York City is still New York City.
