Experimental 3D +2D animation

Using photogrammetry, motion-capture files, 3D rendering, and animation, I created these short animated experiments. Don’t know what any of those technical words mean? Don’t worry, I barely know either.

I created the animated music video for my friend’s retro-prom tune, “Again and Again”. Using 3D animation, fluid particle simulation, and various video effects, I tried to match the psychedelic quality of the music with equally psychedelic visuals (and no, I was not sponsored by Skittles).

Advancements in AI and Machine Learning happen so quickly, that by the time you’re reading this, what I’m about to explain will probably be obsolete. So I’ll give you the short version: I used Machine Learning to create rotoscoped videos. If you’re curious, read more about the process here.

The Harvard Lampoon

The Lampoon humor magazine is one of Harvard’s most competitive and intense campus organizations. Many well-known creatives and weirdos (including Conan O’Brien, Colin Jost, BJ Novak, and Alan Yang) got their start within the dusty, old building of the Lampoon. No doubt, these are some big shoes to fill.

My sophomore year, I co-created and led the Art Direction of the Fall 2018 issue: the “Once In A Blue Moon#”. Below is my cover design: a 3-page, foldout cover highlighting the themes of the issue.

In the end, it wasn’t all just me. Below are the results of my efforts, and the efforts of all the staff members that I begged to submit content.

My dad is the coolest

Some of my earliest memories are of going to work with my dad. He sold cheap takeout from his food truck: “Lucky Chinese Food”. My brother and I would run around and keep ourselves entertained, while my dad would tirelessly serve his customers, who would affectionately call him “Lucky”.

For one of my school projects, I wanted to celebrate and relive some of these memories in the form of a short animated film. To this date, this is one of my proudest creations, and I believe I have one of the coolest dads out there.

And yes, if you were wondering, he still sells food at the same spot.
